About Meng To

Meng To is a self-taught designer and the founder of Design+Code, a learning platform that teaches designers to code and developers to design. Born in Cambodia and raised in Montreal, he worked for years as a web designer before moving to San Francisco, where he designed for the mobile games company Heyzap. Without a university degree he could not renew his US work visa, so he spent about two years travelling and working remotely, including a stint at a startup in Asia.

While travelling he began blogging about the then-new design app Sketch, and those posts turned into Design+Code: From Sketch to Xcode, a 2014 book written largely in Seoul that bundled Sketch files, videos and Xcode projects to teach iOS design and prototyping. The book grew into designcode.io, a subscription platform of courses on SwiftUI, React, Figma, design systems and more recently AI-assisted design and prompting. Along the way he released Spring, an open-source Swift animation library with around 14,000 GitHub stars, and Angle, a large library of device mockups for Sketch, Figma and XD.

His latest product is Aura, an AI website and UI builder for designers that generates and remixes landing pages and templates, with export to HTML and Figma and hosting on custom domains. He also sells ThreeUI, a set of three.js templates, and runs live masterclasses on designing with AI. He is based in Singapore and remains an active voice on X about the overlap of design, code and AI tools.
