What makes a great profile

The best profiles read like a short case study. See John Rush, Pieter Levels or Marc Lou for examples.

  • ✓ A clear one-line tagline

Say what you build and for whom, e.g. “Solo maker of AI tools for podcasters”.

  • ✓ Every product, with links

Live, acquired and shut-down products all count — your track record is the story.

  • ✓ Public revenue sources (optional)

A tweet, blog post, interview or verified dashboard. No source, no number.

  • ✓ Milestones

Launch dates, first $1K MRR, quitting your job, an exit. Timelines make profiles memorable.

  • ✓ Your principles

Two to five lessons you build by. These get quoted in guides and by answer engines.

  • ✓ Where to follow you

X, website, newsletter, YouTube, GitHub — and any courses or communities you run.

Who can be listed

Independent makers and small bootstrapped teams who build and sell their own internet products — SaaS, apps, AI tools, games, directories, newsletters, courses and communities. Venture-backed startups and agencies without their own products are usually not a fit. Not sure? Read what is an indie maker.

Revenue is never required. Of our 385 profiles, 79 show self-reported revenue on the leaderboard, and only with a public source. Read our methodology for details.

Want more visibility for your profile or product? Featured makers and sponsored placements appear on the homepage, category pages and guides. Contact John Rush on X to ask about availability.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free to get listed on IndieMakerList?

Yes. Standard maker profiles are free. Send John Rush a DM on X with your details and we research and publish the profile.

Do I have to share my revenue?

No, revenue is optional. If you do share it, include a public source such as a TrustMRR page, tweet, blog post or interview. We only publish revenue that has been reported publicly, and TrustMRR pages get a verified badge.

How long does it take to get listed?

Profiles are researched and added by hand in batches, so it can take from a few days to a few weeks. Complete submissions with public sources get published faster.

Can I update or remove my profile?

Yes. Claim your profile at indiemakerlist.com/claim/ with one post on X, or DM @johnrush with the profile URL and the change you want: new products, updated revenue, corrections or a removal request.

How do I get a featured or sponsored placement?

Contact John Rush on X (@johnrush) to ask about featured profiles and sponsored placements on the homepage, category pages and guides.
