Pablo Stanley

Pablo Stanley is a designer, illustrator and builder who grew up in Mexico and is now based in San Francisco. He is best known in the design community for playful, open illustration libraries and the tools built around them. Early in his career he worked on product design and teaching at Udemy, co-founded the design team at Carbon Health, and was a product designer at InVision, while also running Sketch Together, a YouTube series teaching design, the Spanish-language design podcast Diseño Cha Cha Chá, and The Design Team, a comic about life on a design team.

His free illustration libraries Avataaars, Humaaans, Open Peeps and Open Doodles became staples in mockups and landing pages. In 2020 he co-founded Blush, a platform for customizable illustrations made by artists around the world that can be remixed directly in Figma. He followed it with AI-era products including Musho, an AI design tool, and Lummi, an AI image platform for designers co-founded with Jason Donnette. Udemy acquired Lummi in June 2025 to bring its AI design tools to instructors.

Stanley is a prolific side-project builder. He made the Robotos NFT collection, the Latinxs Who Design directory, the pixel character creator Pixabots and a string of small AI and terminal tools. From 2024 he worked on the creative team at Vercel on v0, and his X bio now lists design at Anthropic.
