About Andrew Spinks (Redigit)

Andrew "Redigit" Spinks is an American game developer and the creator of Terraria. Before Terraria he worked on the fan game Super Mario Bros. X. In January 2011 he started building Terraria on Microsoft XNA from his living room, with a small group of remote testers and designers, and founded Re-Logic in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, to release it.

Terraria launched on Steam on 16 May 2011, earlier than planned after a beta leaked. Spinks paused updates in 2012 to focus on his family, then resumed in 2013, and the game has since received more than a decade of free content updates with no microtransactions. As of 2026 Terraria has sold over 70 million copies, making it one of the best-selling video games of all time.

Re-Logic, which Spinks runs with his wife Whitney "Cenx" Spinks, has about eleven people, many hired from the community. The company is known for its public stances, including refusing Epic Games Store exclusivity and donating $100,000 to the Godot and FNA engines after Unity's 2023 fee controversy. The long-promised 1.4.5 update shipped in January 2026.
