Ankur Warikoo is an Indian entrepreneur, author and online educator best known for WebVeda, the course and membership platform built around his personal finance and career content, and for the bestselling book Do Epic Shit. He is one of India's largest creator-founders, with more than 7 million YouTube subscribers and a combined following of over 16 million.
Warikoo was born in Srinagar in 1980 and grew up in Delhi. He studied physics at Hindu College, Delhi University, went to Michigan State University to pursue astrophysics, left that path and returned to India, and later earned an MBA from the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad. He started at the consulting firm A.T. Kearney, co-founded Accentium Web, which ran sites such as Gaadi.com, and then became the founding head of Groupon in India, also leading Groupon's Asia-Pacific business. From 2015 to 2019 he was the founding CEO of nearbuy, a local deals and experiences startup.
After stepping down from nearbuy he went all-in on content and teaching. He built an audience on YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn with short lessons on money, careers and life, then turned it into products: paid online courses sold through WebVeda, and a series of books published by Penguin, Do Epic Shit (2021), Get Epic Shit Done (2022) and Make Epic Money (2024), which his own marketing says have sold more than a million copies combined.
On May 15, 2026 Warikoo announced on X that he was shutting down the courses business after a five-year run. He said it had generated over ₹100 crore in sales and about ₹25 crore in profit from roughly five lakh students, and hinted that AI had changed the economics of online courses. WebVeda continues as a subscription membership that bundles courses, a members-only community and job listings, and it lists more than 517,000 members. He also lists the India Genius Challenge and Monzy among his current ventures.
Warikoo matters because he is one of the clearest cases of a former startup CEO turning an audience into a large, profitable education business, and of a creator publicly closing a profitable product line when he judged its market had changed.
