Web dev educator behind Traversy Media, plus a public lab of indie dev tools

About Brad Traversy

Brad Traversy is a self-taught web developer and one of the best-known coding teachers on YouTube. Traversy started programming in 2007 at age 26, without a computer science background, and began teaching developers in 2011 under the Traversy Media name. The free tutorials and crash courses on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Node.js, PHP, Python and more have reached millions of learners, and Traversy Media says more than 2 million developers use its tutorials.

Alongside the free YouTube channel, Traversy Media sells project-based courses such as Modern JavaScript, Modern HTML and CSS, Modern React From The Beginning, Laravel From Scratch, 50 Projects in 50 Days and a newer Coding With AI course. Courses can be bought individually or through a monthly or yearly membership, and the company reports 15+ courses, 400+ hours of content and over 1M students. Traversy Media is run as an LLC together with a partner named Dennis, and Traversy also publishes courses on Udemy.

Outside the course business, Traversy runs bradtraversy.dev, a public lab for shipping solo side projects with a frequent devlog. Projects there include DevSheets, a free library of validated developer cheat sheets, WebUtils, a set of 60+ browser-based dev utilities, ApiMocker, a free fake REST API, the Vidpipe YouTube-to-content SaaS, and Multiprompter, a Mac teleprompter app. Traversy is also featured on start.dev, an interactive in-browser coding platform.
