About Monica Lent

Monica Lent is an American software engineer and founder based in Berlin. Before going independent, Monica led web engineering at the European fintech SumUp and, in parallel, ran an affiliate-monetized travel blog that grew through SEO and affiliate marketing.

That experience led to Affilimate, an affiliate analytics product started around 2019 that helps publishers see which articles, links and traffic sources generate commerce revenue. Monica leads product and engineering, while co-founder Lynda Mann, formerly head of commerce at Wirecutter, leads operations and growth. Affilimate now serves media companies with tools to unify affiliate data across networks, analyze on-page performance and run sponsorship campaigns.

In 2020 Monica launched Blogging for Devs, a newsletter and free email course teaching developers to grow a blog without an existing audience. Later that year, as part of a public 12 startups in 12 months challenge, the Blogging for Devs paid community launched and earned about $5K in its first week, followed by BFD Trends, a ranking of popular developer blogs that reached the top of Hacker News. A free SEO for Devs course followed.

Monica writes openly about launches, SEO and the tradeoffs between info products and SaaS, and has spoken at developer conferences such as GOTO Berlin.
