Louis Pereira

Louis Pereira is an indie maker based in Goa, India, best known for AudioPen, a web app that turns rambling voice notes into clean, structured text using AI. For years they built side projects part-time while working in their family's offline business, after earlier studying and working in Delhi.

By their own account AudioPen came after 10 to 15 attempts that never made meaningful money, including a microblogging list platform, the curated reading site Read Something Great, the playful Do Nothing for a Minute and the AI testimonial tool Tiny Testimonial. They built the first version of AudioPen in about half a day in March 2023 during Half Day Build, a recurring hackathon they organize, using no-code tools on top of OpenAI's Whisper and GPT models.

AudioPen reached #1 on Product Hunt, was covered by TechCrunch, and in its first two months gathered more than 1,000 paying users and around $73K in revenue. They experimented heavily with pricing, starting with a cheap lifetime deal and raising it over time alongside an annual plan.

Louis also writes short essays on their blog about creativity, focus, intuition and life in Goa, and describes their goal as building assets on the internet.
