Frey Chu

Frey Chu is a California-based builder who creates and monetizes niche directory websites and teaches others to do the same. His first directory, in the thrifting niche, started as a simple SEO experiment and grew to more than $2,000 a month in mostly passive revenue with around 60,000 monthly visits.

He documents his process on YouTube, covering how to pick and validate a niche, scrape and enrich data, build directories with tools like WordPress or AI coding agents, and monetize through ads and featured listings. His videos and interviews, including appearances on the Niche Pursuits podcast, have made him one of the best-known voices in the directory-building movement.

Frey runs Ship Your Directory, a paid community for serious directory builders, and a free newsletter with directory tips. He says more than a million people have visited his directories over a 16-month period.
