Thomas Sanlis

Thomas Sanlis is a French developer, designer and entrepreneur who works full-time on their own projects. They have been building side projects since their teenage years, starting with video game communities, and by their own count launched somewhere between 20 and 30 projects before one stuck.

That project is Uneed, which they started in 2018 during their computer science studies in Paris as a way to try out Nuxt.js. It began as a simple directory of front-end tools, with one new tool added every day, and later pivoted into a launch platform where makers submit and showcase new products, plus a makers community and paid residencies. Over time Uneed became selective about submissions, and Thomas has said publicly that they now reject more than half of the products added.

Alongside Uneed they worked as a developer at Yogosha, took on freelance development and design work, and taught IT at Ada Tech School from 2022 to 2024. They have credited programmatic SEO as a major traffic driver for Uneed. More recently they co-founded Writizzy with Hugo Lassiège, a newsletter and blogging platform hosted in Europe aimed at independent publishing.

Thomas shares revenue numbers openly on X; their bio reported about $134K in 2025, with a stated goal of reaching $1M in annual revenue from their ventures. They write on their own Writizzy-hosted blog about indie making, self-hosting and product strategy.
