About Thomas Gervraud (Blobfish)

Thomas Gervraud is a French independent game developer who works as Blobfish, a one-person studio he ran from Lyon before moving to Zurich, Switzerland. Brotato was Blobfish's fourth game.

Brotato is a fast arena shooter roguelite in which a potato wielding up to six weapons fights waves of aliens. It entered Steam early access in September 2022 at a low price and sold over a million copies during early access, becoming one of the most popular roguelites on Steam in 2022 and 2023. The full release followed in June 2023, alongside mobile versions ported by Erabit Studios, a Nintendo Switch version and later PlayStation and Xbox releases, including Game Pass.

By 2025 Brotato had sold over 10 million copies across platforms. Gervraud released the first DLC, Abyssal Terrors, with local co-op in October 2024, and in September 2025 announced that the studio Evil Empire would take over ongoing development while Blobfish continues to oversee the game's direction.
