Paul Jarvis

Author of Company of One and co-founder of Fathom Analytics (retired 2024)

About Paul Jarvis

Paul Jarvis is a designer, writer and entrepreneur best known for Company of One, the 2019 book that challenged the idea that every business must grow as big as possible. The book argued that staying small, profitable and intentional can be a smarter strategy, and it became a touchstone for the indie and solopreneur movement.

Before that he spent years as a freelance web designer and online teacher, building courses and a loyal newsletter audience around working for yourself on your own terms.

In 2018 he co-founded Fathom Analytics with developer Jack Ellis, a privacy-first alternative to Google Analytics. Paul handled design, content and brand while Jack led engineering, and they co-hosted the Above Board podcast. Fathom grew from a side project into a well-known bootstrapped SaaS company. Paul retired from Fathom in late 2024, and he no longer maintains a social media presence.
