About Jeff Delaney

Jeff Delaney is the developer, writer and narrator behind Fireship, one of the most popular programming channels on YouTube, with more than 4 million subscribers. Fireship is known for fast-paced, meme-filled videos such as the 100 Seconds of Code series and the Code Report tech news segments, which explain new tools and frameworks in a few minutes.

He came to web development by an unusual route. He considered careers as a pilot and an accountant before teaching himself to code, and later worked as an independent app consultant specializing in Firebase, Flutter and JavaScript. Seeing how little good content existed for the tools he used with clients, he started the AngularFirebase channel. He later rebranded it as Fireship to cover broader topics such as Flutter, Node.js, React and general full-stack development. He has been recognized as a Google Developer Expert.

Alongside the free videos, Fireship sells Fireship PRO, a membership of project-based courses on React, Next.js, SvelteKit, Supabase, Flutter, TypeScript and more. Around mid-2024 Jeff sold a stake in Fireship to the investor Electrify to fund further growth. Electrify later also invested in Tyler McGinnis's ui.dev.

In January 2026 Fireship and ui.dev announced they were joining forces. The combined team now produces Fireship videos, courses such as react.gg and query.gg, and the Bytes JavaScript newsletter, all on the new fireship.dev platform. Jeff has said he still writes and voices every video, keeps creative control over what is published, and does not use AI for voiceovers or visuals.
