The story of PromptHero
PromptHero is a search engine and community for AI image prompts. Javi (rameerez) and co-founder Javier Rueda launched it in 2022, about a week after Stable Diffusion was released. Within months it was drawing more than 2 million monthly visits, and it later scaled to over 4 million monthly users.
The two-person team also released Openjourney, an open image model that became one of the most downloaded models on Hugging Face, and the community grew by close to 1,000 new users a day.
In November 2024 the founders announced that ElevenYellow, the company behind the autonomous AI artist Botto, was acquiring PromptHero to keep running it with more resources. The terms were not disclosed.
