rameerez

Javier, better known online as rameerez, is an indie developer who has been building software products for more than a decade, usually designing, coding and operating them entirely on his own. He prefers staying independent from VCs and corporate politics so he can focus on users and on building things as a form of creative expression.

His best-known project is PromptHero, a search engine and community for AI image prompts that became one of the largest AI image generation sites, scaling to more than 4 million users a month; the team also released the open Openjourney model. He later sold PromptHero. Other products include Hustl, a Mac app for making timelapses of your work, and the job board Jobician.

Today he builds RailsFast, a Ruby on Rails template designed for AI-assisted coding, publishes open-source Ruby gems with hundreds of thousands of downloads, and writes popular long-form posts about leaving the cloud and self-hosting Rails apps with Kamal.
