Jacky Chou

Jacky Chou is a Canadian SEO entrepreneur best known as the founder of Indexsy, a Vancouver-born holding company that builds, buys and grows internet businesses in public. Through Indexsy he runs a portfolio of SEO services, AI-powered SEO software such as LocalRank.so and Trackings.ai, and the marketer community Advise.so, which he says brought in $2.92 million in revenue in 2025.

Chou was born in 1992 and studied electrical engineering at the University of British Columbia. He has told interviewers that after finishing last on a midterm in a class of more than 300 students he searched for ways to make money online, found SEO and affiliate marketing, and started ranking his own affiliate sites. He founded Indexsy in Vancouver in 2015, worked briefly in traffic acquisition at Kontakt.io and at the photo startup EyeEm, and then went full time on his own projects.

With Albert Liu he started the minimalist kitchenware brand Far & Away in 2019 and in 2020 relaunched the defunct interior-design brand Laurel & Wolf after buying its domain for $3,500. He also ran TowingLess, a towing-services brand, from 2020 to 2022, and has owned dozens of affiliate sites. In March 2024 he became a talking point in the AI-content debate when Google hit some of his heavily AI-written sites with a spam action and he openly mocked the update on X, a story covered by Futurism.

Today Chou focuses on software and services for SEO agencies and brands: LocalRank.so (AI local SEO software used by 500+ agencies), Trackings.ai (AI rank tracking and visibility in ChatGPT-style answers), IndexChex, CTR Software and Looker.so, alongside Indexsy's done-for-you link-building and LLM visibility services. Four of his businesses are verified on TrustMRR with more than $4.5 million in combined lifetime revenue.

He publishes monthly revenue reports, a YouTube channel and the Marketing Letter newsletter, co-hosts the NGMI podcast, and has been one of the most transparent operators in the SEO world about what his sites and tools earn.
