Italian developer in Taipei who built Makerkit, the B2B SaaS starter kit
Giancarlo Buomprisco is an Italian software engineer who studied at the University of Pisa and King's College London. He worked for years as a front-end and UI consultant, with time in London, and is now based in Taipei, spending summers in Italy. He made his name in the Angular community with widely read articles on component design, RxJS and performance, and with open-source libraries such as ngx-chips, a tag-input component with close to 900 GitHub stars.
In 2022 he launched Makerkit, a starter kit for B2B SaaS products. It gives developers a production-ready foundation with authentication, teams and organizations, billing, an admin panel and documentation, so they can focus on their product instead of the plumbing. He built it in public on Indie Hackers. Four months in, in December 2022, he reported about $3.5K in monthly sales and called himself ramen profitable. By month six, monthly revenue had reached $8,606, with most customers coming from Google search.
Makerkit now sells three kits, Supabase, Drizzle and Prisma, each available for Next.js 16 and TanStack Start, with React Router also supported on the Supabase kit. Licenses are one-time Pro and Teams purchases that include lifetime updates and unlimited projects.
Giancarlo is also a co-founder of Formtoro, an AI-assisted Shopify app for building branded popups, forms and quizzes that collect zero-party data from shoppers. He writes technical articles on building SaaS products with modern React stacks.
