Timing
timingapp.com
Automatic time tracker for Mac that logs apps, documents and websites and assigns time to projects.
Former Google engineer who built Timing, the automatic time tracker for Mac
Daniel Alm is a German-born independent developer, now based in Västerås, Sweden, who makes Timing, an automatic time-tracking app for macOS. Timing runs in the background and records which apps, documents and websites a user works on, then presents an interactive timeline so time can be assigned to projects without start and stop timers. Data stays on the Mac rather than being uploaded to the cloud.
Alm came up with Timing while building an earlier calculator app, PocketCAS, when he wanted to know his effective hourly wage but lacked the discipline to use manual timers. He later left a software engineering job at Google to work on his own products. Timing 2 launched in 2017 and is sold directly rather than through the Mac App Store.
