About Bogdan Popescu

Bogdan Popescu is the independent developer behind Kapeli and its flagship app Dash, an offline API documentation browser and code snippet manager for macOS that gives developers instant search across 200+ documentation sets and cheat sheets. Dash became a staple developer tool on the Mac and integrates with many editors and launchers.

Popescu runs Kapeli on his own, handling support, feature requests and docset contributions directly. In 2016 Apple closed his developer account and pulled Dash from the App Store over alleged review manipulation linked to a second account; Popescu disputed the account of events, and the episode became a widely discussed case about platform dependency. Dash continued to be sold directly from his website.

He has kept updating the app for more than a decade, shipping Dash 7 in 2023 and releasing a Dash for Windows beta that is free while in testing.
