The story of ScrapingBee

ScrapingBee is a web scraping API that handles headless browsers, proxies and anti-bot measures. Kevin Sahin and Pierre de Wulf started it in France in 2019, after several earlier projects that didn't take off. They began charging after a short beta in mid-2019 and joined TinySeed's Spring 2020 batch.

Growth came mainly from in-depth scraping guides published in several programming languages. The company passed $1M ARR in November 2021 without traditional VC funding, and it later reported consistent triple-digit annual growth.

In June 2025 the Lithuanian Oxylabs group acquired ScrapingBee in an all-cash deal that both TinySeed and the press described as eight figures. ScrapingBee kept its brand and leadership and runs as an independent entity, which Oxylabs plans to integrate gradually. Both founders stayed on.

  2. 2.Find one scalable acquisition channel and avoid spreading effort across too many.
  3. 3.Talk to users constantly.
  4. 4.Build on your strengths.
