About Yasser Elsaid

Yasser Elsaid is the solo founder of Chatbase, an AI agent platform for customer support and sales. He started experimenting with OpenAI's early Davinci models in his last semester of university, after a new-grad job offer was rescinded during tech layoffs, and built the first version of Chatbase in about two weeks on Supabase.

He launched it in February 2023 with only a handful of followers. A viral tweet and organic build-in-public posts on X, Reddit, LinkedIn and Product Hunt drove rapid growth, and Chatbase reached about $1M ARR in 117 days with no marketing budget. He reportedly turned down an early offer to buy the code and kept the company independent.

Chatbase later shifted from a simple chat-with-your-docs tool to a B2B platform for support and sales agents across chat, email, voice, WhatsApp and Slack, and the team moved from Toronto to New York to be closer to customers. It remains bootstrapped, with revenue verified on TrustMRR at more than $800K per month in 2026, making it one of the most successful solo-founded AI products.
