About Jordi Bruin

Jordi Bruin is an indie developer from the Netherlands who runs Good Snooze, a one-person studio that has shipped more than twenty apps for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and Vision Pro. He is best known for MacWhisper, a Mac transcription app that runs OpenAI's Whisper models locally, which grew into one of the most popular indie Mac utilities of the AI era.

Bruin studied management, economics and law, then spent years at the Dutch mobile agency Triple as a designer, project manager and creative strategist. He taught himself Swift in 2016 by porting an Objective-C project file by file, and left the agency at the end of 2019 to start Good Snooze. His first breakout was Soosee, an AR ingredient scanner for people with allergies, built during the 2020 lockdown after a waitlist of thousands formed from a single demo video.

He is known for building small, focused apps quickly around new Apple APIs — Unmute (text-to-speech in phone calls) was built over a hackathon weekend, Posture Pal uses AirPods motion sensors to nudge neck posture, and Navi adds live subtitles and translation to FaceTime calls. He has spoken publicly about his fast "2-2-2" shipping method and was an Apple Design Award nominee.
