v0
Generates a neat widget and changelog page UI.
Changelog · updated 2026-11-03
Easy: Yes, easily A changelog page with an in-app what's new widget is an easy build that most products can own outright.
Beamer sells an announcement feed you embed in your app, with an unread badge and optional push notifications. The core is a list of posts and a small widget that remembers what each user has read, which takes an afternoon. Segmentation, multi-language posts and web push add work, and the widget has to be safe to embed on every page of your app.
Beamer is in-app changelog and announcement widget with notifications and feedback. This page is about building your own version for personal or internal use, or to learn how this kind of product works, not about copying Beamer to compete with it. How we grade.
Difficulty is for a solo builder using an AI coding tool. Skip means not worth building yourself.
| Feature | Difficulty | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Changelog page and RSS | Easy | Static pages generated from posts. |
| Post editor | Easy | Markdown with images and category tags. |
| Embeddable widget | Medium | Shadow DOM or iframe so it does not clash with your app's styles. |
| Unread badge | Easy | Store the last-seen post per user or in localStorage. |
| Email digest | Medium | Send new posts to opted-in users with unsubscribe links. |
| Segmentation | Medium | Target posts by plan or role passed from your app. |
| Web push | Hard | Service workers, VAPID keys and browser permission UX. |
| Reactions and feedback | Easy | Emoji reactions and a short comment box per post. |

Generates a neat widget and changelog page UI.
Can scaffold the editor, page and embed script together.
Good at the embed script, Shadow DOM isolation and read-state logic.
Paste it into your tool, then ask for a plan before any code. Edit the specifics to match what you need.
Build a changelog and what's new widget for my own SaaS app. Stack: Next.js, Supabase, a vanilla JS embed script. Data model: posts (id, title, body_markdown, category new|improved|fixed, image_url, published_at, audience all|paid), reads (user_id, last_seen_post_id), reactions (post_id, user_id, emoji). Features: 1. Admin editor (my login only) to write, preview, schedule and publish posts. 2. Public changelog page with RSS and per-post URLs. 3. Embed script under 10 KB that renders a button with an unread count and a slide-out panel, inside Shadow DOM so styles never clash with the host app. 4. The host app passes a signed user token so read state and audience targeting work per user. 5. Optional weekly email digest to users who opted in. Security: sanitize rendered Markdown; verify the signed user token on the server and never trust user attributes sent from the browser; restrict the widget API with CORS to my domains; rate-limit reactions; row level security on all tables.
AI tools often get these wrong by default. Check each one before anyone else uses the app.
They went far past the prototype: support, payments, reliability and years of iteration. Their profiles show what that took.

You learn how embeddable widgets are built safely: isolation, signed identity and small bundles.
Easy. A changelog page with an in-app what's new widget is an easy build that most products can own outright.
A working personal or internal MVP takes about 3–6 h with a tool like v0. A polished version you would rely on every day takes about 2–4 days, mostly spent on web push notifications across browsers.
Expect $0–$36/mo at personal or small-team scale (hosting, database, email digest). Beamer Starter costs $49/mo (checked 2026-11-03), so the most you would save is $588 a year, before counting your time.
Yes. A changelog page, an embeddable panel and an unread badge take an afternoon or two with a vibe coding tool.
As of November 2026 Beamer's Starter plan is $49 a month billed annually or $59 monthly for up to 5,000 monthly active users, with a free plan up to 1,000.
A Markdown file or a page on your site with an RSS feed is enough for most products. Add an in-app widget once users need to see updates inside the app.
Building your own tool that solves the same problem is common and generally fine. Copying Beamer's code, design assets, brand name or content is not. Use your own name and design, respect their terms of service, and get proper advice if you plan to sell it. This page is not legal advice.
