Greg Pierce

Greg Pierce is an independent developer in the Fort Worth, Texas area who runs Agile Tortoise, the software company he founded in 2006. He is best known for Drafts, a quick-capture text app for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch that opens to a blank page and lets users send text anywhere through customizable actions and scripts.

Pierce has developed and maintained Drafts on his own for more than a decade, and it has become a staple of the Apple automation community; MacStories honored it with a lifetime achievement award in 2022. Before Drafts he made Terminology, a dictionary and word reference app, and he later released Phraseology. Together with Marco Arment, he created the x-callback-url protocol that lets iOS apps hand control back and forth, first implemented in Terminology and Instapaper.
