About Peter Coles

Peter Coles is a New York software engineer best known as the creator of GoFullPage (originally Full Page Screen Capture), the Chrome extension for capturing an entire web page in one screenshot, which the Chrome Web Store lists with 11 million users. Coles also co-founded Superset, a spreadsheet tool company.

Coles graduated from MIT in computer science in 2007 and moved to New York to join Hunch, a machine-learning recommendation startup. When eBay acquired Hunch in November 2011, Coles opened eBay's New York office and managed the developers on the homepage team, including a large redesign and the rollout to international sites. Coles later joined the wearable-jewelry startup Ringly to launch its first preorder campaign and run its software team, and spent time at the Recurse Center, a retreat for programmers.

The extension started as a personal fix. In December 2012 Coles published Full Page Screen Capture as a way to save whole web pages, including everything below the fold, and the existing Chrome tools did not work well for the job. The code was open-sourced on GitHub, and the simple one-click capture spread through word of mouth to millions of people. Over time Coles turned it into a business, adding premium editing and annotation tools around 2019, a subscription website to unlock them inside the extension, a customer support integration and the GoFullPage brand.

In August 2026 Chrome briefly pulled the extension and flagged it for users in what the developers described as a copyright dispute rather than any malware problem; they also denied rumours that it had been sold. The listing is back on the Chrome Web Store with its 11 million users. Separately, at Superset Coles led engineering, built Superset Sheets, helped the company become profitable with over 1,000 paying customers and launched its AI features before handing leadership to a co-founder.

GoFullPage is a classic browser-extension story: a tiny utility built for the maker's own use that quietly grew to one of the most installed extensions on Chrome and was later monetised with a freemium upgrade.
